The process matters.
Wonder what it looks like to work with us?
-
Dream it.
We understand that many of our clients have been dreaming about their shop or barndominium for months or even years. We love getting to be trusted to make those dreams become a reality. At Cornerstone Construction, we sit down with all of our clients to finalize a design that best fits their needs. We provide any advice that we have learned over the years but at the end of the day we are here to give you everything you could want.
-
Draw it up.
After dreaming about all the options, we go into the design phase. Here we go into detail of structural capacity and loadings for beam spans and foundation designs. This is where you really see your dreams take shape by defining doors, windows, roof pitch, insulation, carports, and so many other options. This is a time that we provide our customers with an engineering perspective of their structure and ensure that it will be built to last a lifetime. We always tell customers if you can imagine it , we can build it!
-
Prep it.
In our opinion this is where Cornerstone Construction stands out from the crowd. As a civil engineer with years of structural concrete design experience we ensure that your slab is prepared in a way that gives 100% confidence. This stage is critical to the success of the rest of the project. We do everything that is necessary to give you a solid base of quality dirt to build your home or shop on. Typically, we bring in several loads of select fill soil to build up your pad in preparation of the slab. In this phase we also consider plumbing and electrical needs for your project. We have licensed plumbers and electricians to perform the work needed.
-
Pour it.
This is another critical task. If you want a building that will last a lifetime, you need a slab that will do the same. We pour our 5” slabs with perimeter and interior grade beams with rebar throughout the top mat and beams. The grade beams are there to provide structural strength for the top portion of the slab to sit on and also the steel structure distributes its load down to the grade beams. This is a portion of the project that we do not skimp out on and we believe that's one way we can best serve our customers. To bond our structure to the slab we use weld plates that have legs which embedded into the concrete to ensure that it will not lift or break from the concrete.
-
Make it happen.
Now that your slab is poured, it’s time to get that shop or barndo built! We give 2-3 weeks of time for the slab to fully harden all the way down through the grade beams. Once that time has passed we can move machinery and materials on site to begin construction. We weld up the majority of our buildings but also erect bolt up buildings. In this phase, we do all the structural framing first and then install doors and windows. Once the frame is complete, we add the sheeting and trim. We take great pride in our attention to detail during this phase. Every piece of trim is purposeful and makes the building stand out. This is why we are your highest rated metal building fabrication company in the Brazos Valley.
